Aloe

Aloe barbadensis

Hydrates, soothes and renews the skin.

ORIGINS & DESCRIPTION
Aloe was discovered at Cape Province in 1730 by an established botanist Phillip Miller who also named it and transported it to England. He was attracted by the smooth and carefully cared for faces of local women. He found out that they were washing their faces daily in aloe juice, which not only cleaned the skin but it also gave protection against strong ultraviolet radiation.

PROPERTIES & BENEFITS
The following are active substances in aloe vera: monosaccharides and polysaccharides, mucopolysaccharides (derivatives of uronic acid, glucuronic acid and galacturonic acid), free amino-acids, proteins, enzymes, vitamins and minerals. Juice derived from the leaf of the plant is used for medical purposes. In medicine and pharmacology, it is used in the preparation of medicines for treating burns due to radiation or for damaged skin in general and for stomach and intestinal mucosa. Provides bacteriostatic, bacteriocidic, anti-inflammatory and regenerating effects. Encourages cell proliferation and speeds up the skin´s healing process (granulation and epithelialising effects on damaged tissue). Hydrates, soothes and renews the skin.
