Sensitive skin is characterised by insufficient production of skin fats, causing it to often be dry, thin, tight, prone to redness, flaking, and broken capillaries. The most important structural element of the natural skin barrier are phospholipids.
Sensitive skin should be cleansed with natural cold-pressed oils, rich in unsaturated fatty acids, to restore its disturbed lipid balance. Sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, and passion flower oil are similar in composition to a component of skin – sebum.
If you cleanse your face with natural oil cleansers which contain natural essential oils, you will not strip the skin of its protective barrier, and you will cleanse the skin deeply of dust, makeup, and, most importantly, help the oil secretion normalise without disturbing the skin’s protective hydrolipidic barrier. The tonic you use must be mild, containing no unnecessary additives or alcohol.
Use creams formulated for the sensitive skin of your face. Such creams are mild and soothing – they contain substances which reduce the risk of irritation. When fighting dryness in sensitive skin, it is important to be careful about the product ingredients, and, most importantly, use products that penetrate deep into the skin. Before applying cream, use a few drops of a natural oil mixture (jojoba, St John's wort, almond, hazelnut, soya...) and essential oil – mandarin orange, lavender, etc. – to accelerate the regeneration of the hydrolipidic barrier of the skin, and allow the active ingredients of your cream to penetrate to the deepest layers of the skin.
