Eyebright (Euphrasia officinalis) has long been used around the world as a traditional herbal remedy for a variety of eye concerns, including conjunctivitis (pink eye), tired eyes, and excessive tearing.
Eyebright Eye Rinse
Pour 100 ml of freshly boiled water over 1 teaspoon of dried eyebright herb. Cover and let it steep for 1–2 minutes, then strain through sterile gauze or a fine sterile filter.
Use the cooled infusion to rinse the eyes three to four times daily, especially in the morning and evening, or soak sterile cotton pads and apply them as compresses. Always prepare a fresh infusion before each use.
Linden Tea Compresses for Under-Eye Puffiness
Linden tea can help reduce the appearance of under-eye puffiness. Lie back comfortably and place warm (not hot) compresses over your eyes for about 15 minutes.
For enhanced results, use an eye cream formulated with horse chestnut and botanical extracts known to help reduce excess fluid around the eyes and minimize the appearance of under-eye bags.
Nutrition for Healthy Eyes:
Itchy eyelids and a gritty sensation in the eyes may be signs of a vitamin B2 (riboflavin) deficiency. To help prevent or improve this condition, nutritionists recommend eating foods rich in B-complex vitamins, such as:
- Brewer's yeast
- Nuts
- Eggs
- Fish
Parsley is also highly beneficial for eye health, as it is rich in vitamins A and C and provides valuable amounts of B vitamins, calcium, iron, phosphorus, manganese, and potassium.
